If you haven’t seen the Santa Cruz Mountains from above, you'll have a chance this weekend – and you don’t even need to take a helicopter ride! This Saturday, head over to Long Ridge Open Space Preserve for a fun, moderately-paced 5-mile hike to a vista point that overlooks the mountain range. The hike will be led by two experienced docents, Bob Segalla and Steve Brugler.

Arrive in the morning for a patriotic parade through the redwoods and stay until the evening for a campfire and talent show. Spend time between events exploring the park (we recommend you check out Sequoia Trail for a fun 2-hour hike). Read more about Big Basin right here.

This trail snakes through the redwoods of the Santa Cruz Mountains and leads to a beautiful waterfall that cascades over the forest. Be warned: This 11-mile trek is not for the faint of heart, but is well worth the day-long hike.
