Coastal Wildflower Day

Date:

Sat, 04/11/2015 - 10:00

Sky lupine, owl's clover, mule's ear, castilleja: California's coastal wildflowers are marvels of toughness and beauty. Celebrate them today at Half Moon Bay's Francis Beach, where family activities as well as wisdom from native plant gardeners await. Play plant bingo at 10:30am, 12:30pm or 2pm; take a guided plant walk at 11am, 1pm or 3pm; and ask California Native Plant Society members which plants from the native plant sale would work best on your patch of paradise.

There's also a chance to do native plant restoration from 9am to 3pm; sign up at the Park Champions page.

This marks the start of California Native Plant Week, and what a week it shall be! Today's wildflower celebration is brought to you by Coastside State Parks Association, Friends of Santa Cruz State Parks, California Native Plant Society Santa Clara Valley Chapter and the California State Parks Foundation's Parks Champions.

Francis Beach, Half Moon Bay State Beach, 95 Kelly Ave, Half Moon Bay. 10am-4pm. Free, but parking costs $10. Map to Francis Beach
