Explore how native peoples who have lived in the area for thousands of years took care of the land before the arrival of Europeans. Join Docent Naturalists Marie Faust Evitt, Ann McCarty, and Nancy Weintraub for a moderately-paced hike and activities along the beautiful Horseshoe Lake, Ipiwa, and Alpine Loop trails through Midpeninsula Regional Open Space . Discover how native peoples use strategies such as controlled burns and regular pruning to nurture plants and ensure abundant food and materials for homes, baskets and medicine.
