San Bruno Mountain Watch

San Bruno Mountain State Park sits at the northern end of the Santa Cruz Range, offering long views of the city, bay, and surrounding landscape. On clear days Mt. Tamalpais, Mt. Diablo, and the Farallon Islands are all found along the horizon line. Hikes, recreation areas for frisbee throwing or picnic lunching, and cultural resources are a few of the many opportunities for fun.

Protecting this resource and offering guided tours of its wonders are the dedicated citizens of the San Bruno Mountain Watch. The non-profit group provides public and school educational programs, leads guiding walks, and provides opportunities to get down and dirty during its tri-weekly work parties to restore habitat (e.g. removing non-native species and planting native plants produced by the Mission Blue Nursery). The Mountain Watch also advocates for open space friendly policy, while working to protect undeveloped areas contiguous to the mountain. One long-term vision is to create a “Bay to Beaches” wildlife and pedestrian corridor. So, yeah, these guys a little busy. Check in on their projects at San Bruno Mountain Watch.
