Who doesn’t like birds? I mean come on - they fly, surf, barrel roll, and dive - how cool is that? Most folks know that the National Audubon Society, a non-profit organization, works at a high level to protect birds, their habitat, and other wildlife. But how many are aware of the Society’s local presence, where a lot of the meaningful work actually happens? (And there is a lot of work to do: a September 2014 Audubon Society study found that climate change will threaten at least half of North American bird species by 2080.) Well, now you are for one.
San Mateo County’s Sequoia Audubon Society introduces the public to the joys of birding and provides a continuous outlet for the resulting lifelong bird-love. The chapter also provides opportunities to act; from citizen science to environmental activism, there are myriad ways to help.
