Event

Of Turkeys and Turkey Vultures

Date:

Fri, 11/25/2016 - 10:00

Turkeys don't get a whole lot of respect (though Benjamin Franklin pushed for it to be our national bird, calling it "more respectable" than the bald eagle). That goes for the Golden State's version of the turkey—the turkey vulture. Get a new attitude about the mighty bird on this Green Friday hike with docent Mike Monroe at expansive Coyote Lake County Park as you hike off your turkey dinner.

Coyote Lake County Park, Mendoza Entrance. 10am-noon. Free, but parking is $6.

Directions: From U.S. Highway 101 in Gilroy, take the Leavesley Road exit. Proceed east on Leavesley Road 2 miles to New Avenue. Proceed north on New Avenue 0.5 miles to Roop Road. Proceed east on Roop Road 3 miles into the foothills. Turn left into the park.
